Updated 2 November 2026 · Written by Broker Atlas Comparisons Desk · Data checked by Broker Atlas Data Desk

Short answer

Share CFDs are offered by every broker in our table: XM, Exness, Vantage, HFM, Titan FX, XS.com, BigBoss, FXGT, AXIORY, Axi and easyMarkets. If individual stocks are your focus, XM Global stands out for having a dedicated Shares account. Stock counts and share leverage differ widely, so check the contract specifications; expect share leverage to be far below the FX maximums shown.

How to read the table

Every broker in the table offers share CFDs; AXIORY also has an Alpha account for real stocks and ETFs. The leverage column is the broker’s FX maximum — share CFD leverage is usually much lower.

Choosing a broker for share CFDs

  1. Coverage: US large caps only, or other markets too? Check each broker’s instrument list.
  2. Share leverage: work out margin per stock with the margin calculator.
  3. Trading hours: share CFDs usually follow the underlying exchange’s hours.
  4. Account type: XM Global offers Standard, Ultra Low and Shares accounts. Titan FX’s Zero Micro excludes indices and energies, so check instrument coverage by account.

See our US stocks guide and index CFDs guide.

Notes by broker

  • XM: Shares account, plus crypto CFDs and copy trading. → XM account types
  • Titan FX: major indices (JPN225, NAS100, US30, US50) at 1,000:1 on Standard and Blade. → Titan FX leverage
  • FXGT: FX, crypto and share CFDs from one account. → FXGT review
  • BigBoss: share and crypto CFDs; offshore licences in the Comoros and Mauritius. → BigBoss review

Offshore reminder: trading shares as CFDs offshore means supervision but usually no investor compensation of the kind regulated stockbrokers offer.

Frequently asked questions

How is a share CFD different from owning shares?

You trade the price without owning the share: you can use leverage and go short, but you have no voting rights and usually pay overnight financing.

Do share CFDs pay dividends?

Most brokers credit a dividend adjustment on long positions and debit it on shorts. Check the instrument specification.

Are share CFD profits taxed?

Generally yes, though treatment varies by country and may differ from owning shares. See our [tax guide](/en/guides/tax/).

Can I trade share CFDs outside exchange hours?

Generally no: share CFDs follow the underlying exchange's trading hours, so a US share CFD is only tradeable while that market is open. Prices can gap at the open after overnight news.
