XM Global has three real-money accounts: Standard ($5 minimum, bonus-eligible), Ultra Low ($5, lower published spreads, no bonus) and Shares ($10,000, real shares at 1:1). Standard and Ultra Low both offer up to 1,000:1 leverage, a 20% stop-out and a micro-lot option. Pick Standard if you want the deposit bonus, Ultra Low if spreads matter more.

*XM notes that some countries might be excluded from bonuses.
XM also says all accounts offer negative balance protection, hedging and an Islamic option. The per-card swap-free tick reads differently from that statement for Standard, so if you need a swap-free account, confirm the option when you open it. XM doesn’t print a unit next to the spread figures; they are minimums, not averages.
Who each account suits
Standard: most traders, and anyone who wants the bonus. It’s the only account XM marks as bonus-eligible, and it has a micro option for very small positions. The cost is wider published spreads than Ultra Low.
Ultra Low: spread-sensitive and high-volume traders. XM describes it as the choice for high volumes, with lower spreads and lower swaps. You give up the deposit bonus. Published minimums are roughly half of Standard’s on EUR/USD.
Shares: buying actual company shares. No leverage (1:1), a $10,000 minimum and commission. It is not a CFD trading account.
Lot sizes: mini and nano
XM says it has no separate mini or nano accounts, but:
- a mini lot (10,000 units) is 0.1 lots on a standard-lot account, or 10 lots on a micro account
- a nano lot (100 units) is 0.1 lots on a micro account
That makes the micro option the practical choice for testing a strategy with very small risk.
Things to decide before you open
- You can’t change type or base currency later. You can open another account under the same profile instead.
- Leverage falls as equity grows, on every leveraged account: see XM leverage.
- EAs and hedging are allowed on MT4 and MT5.
