Is XM Legit? Licences, Entities and Our Withdrawal Record

Updated 30 October 2026 · Written by Broker Atlas Broker Reviews Desk · Data checked by Broker Atlas Data Desk

Short answer

XM's Korean and English clients are served by XM Global Limited, licensed by the FSC of Belize (licence 8557558). XM says client money is held in segregated accounts and every account has negative balance protection. That is a real licence, but an offshore one: it doesn't give you the supervision or compensation schemes of EU, UK or Australian regulation. Treat XM Global as an offshore broker and size deposits accordingly.

Zero-cut: negative balance protection: Balance $1,000, Price gap: $1,300 loss. Without protection: Balance −$300: you owe it. With zero-cut: Reset to $0: the broker covers it.
When a fast market jumps past the stop-out and the balance goes negative, a broker with zero-cut writes off the negative amount instead of asking you to pay it.

Who you are dealing with

XM Global (ko/en)
Company XM Global Limited
Regulator Financial Services Commission (FSC), Belize
Law Securities Industry Act 2021
Licence number 8557558
Restricted Citizens of the US, Canada, Israel, Iran and other sanctioned countries

These details are printed on XM Global’s regulation page and in the footer of every page. XM is a group: XMTrading serves Japan through companies licensed in Seychelles and Mauritius, and an EU company regulated in Cyprus serves European residents. If you see XM’s EU site, its investor-compensation rules and leverage limits do not describe your XM Global account.

You can check the licence with the Belize FSC yourself. Make sure the company name and number on the regulator’s records match what XM shows; we didn’t verify the regulator’s register for this page.

What XM says it does with your money

  • Segregated accounts. XM’s help centre says all client funds are held in segregated accounts, separate from the company’s own, so that client money is protected if the company becomes insolvent.
  • Reputable banks. Client and operational funds are held with what XM calls highly reputable global institutions. It doesn’t name them publicly.
  • No third-party payments. Deposits must come from you and withdrawals return to the source, which is an anti-money-laundering control, not a protection of your balance.

Negative balance protection (zero-cut)

XM Global says all accounts include negative balance protection: whether you’re long or short, you can’t lose more than your account balance. Stop-out on the Standard and Ultra Low accounts is at a 20% margin level. How zero-cut works in general: zero-cut guide.

What an offshore licence does and doesn’t protect

It does mean a named company is authorised and supervised by a government body, must follow Know Your Client rules (XM cites this when asking for ID), and can be complained about to that regulator.

It doesn’t give you:

  • the leverage caps, marketing rules and capital requirements of EU, UK or Australian regulators
  • a statutory compensation scheme of the kind EU or UK clients have (XM’s public pages advertise none for XM Global)
  • your own country’s courts or ombudsman as an easy route; disputes run under Belize rules

That is the trade-off for 1,000:1 leverage and deposit bonuses. See offshore vs regulated brokers and how licences differ.

What XM Global doesn’t publish

  • Which banks hold client funds.
  • Any insurance or dispute-resolution membership for XM Global Limited.
  • Audited financial statements for XM Global Limited.

Practical safety steps

  1. Verify your profile before depositing much, so withdrawals aren’t held up.
  2. Start with a small deposit and make a small withdrawal to confirm the process works for your payment method.
  3. Remember that withdrawing reduces any bonus in proportion: XM withdrawals.
  4. Use our scam check guide to spot clone sites using XM’s name.

Frequently asked questions

Is XM Global regulated?

Yes. XM Global Limited is regulated by the Financial Services Commission of Belize under the Securities Industry Act 2021, licence number 8557558, according to XM's regulation page.

Is XM Global the same as XM in Europe?

No. XM's EU clients are served by a Cyprus-regulated company, and Japanese clients by XMTrading. Each has different rules, and EU protections don't extend to XM Global clients.

Are my funds protected if XM Global goes bust?

XM says client funds are kept in segregated accounts with reputable banks, separate from its own money. Its public pages don't advertise a compensation scheme for XM Global clients, so segregation is the main protection.

Can I lose more than my deposit?

XM says all accounts include negative balance protection, so you can't lose more than your account balance.
