Protections Vantage describes
- Negative balance protection: Vantage says you won’t be liable for a negative balance; eligible accounts are reviewed and cleared automatically. It doesn’t compensate stop-out losses.
- Stop-out: at 20% margin level on STP and ECN accounts (0% on Premium Unlimited).
- Financial Commission membership: an independent dispute-resolution body.
- Insurance: the footer describes coverage through an insurance brokerage of up to USD 1,000,000 per claim, subject to policy terms and exclusions. It’s not a deposit guarantee.
We didn’t find a public statement on segregated client accounts or the banks used on the pages we read for this article.
What an offshore licence does and doesn’t protect
FSCA is South Africa’s conduct regulator; Vanuatu and Mauritius are offshore regimes. None of them gives you EU or UK-style leverage caps or statutory investor compensation. Vantage’s unlimited-leverage Premium account exists because of that. See offshore vs regulated brokers, Vanuatu VFSC and FSC Mauritius.

- That company’s entry on its regulator’s register.
- Client-money segregation details, which Vantage doesn’t publish company by company.

Frequently asked questions
Is Vantage regulated?
Yes. The footer we saw names Vantage Markets (Pty) Ltd, an authorised Financial Service Provider regulated by South Africa's FSCA under licence 51268. Vantage also has Vanuatu and Mauritius companies, whose legal documents are on its site.
Can I lose more than my balance with Vantage?
Vantage says a negative balance is possible in fast markets, but you won't be liable for it because of its negative balance protection; eligible accounts are cleared automatically.
Which Vantage company will I sign up with?
Vantage says the legal documents that apply to you are made clear during the application. Check whether it names the FSCA-licensed firm or one of the companies in Vanuatu or Mauritius, which carry less protection.
