XM Spreads by Account: EUR/USD, Gold and BTC

Updated 30 October 2026 · Written by Broker Atlas Broker Reviews Desk · Data checked by Broker Atlas Data Desk

Short answer

XM Global publishes only minimum ("as low as") spreads, not averages. On its account page the Standard account shows EUR/USD 1.6, USD/JPY 2 and gold 4; Ultra Low shows EUR/USD 0.8, USD/JPY 0.8 and gold 2.4. XM marks neither account as charging commission, so the spread is your main trading cost.

The spread: the gap between buy and sell: EUR/USD Sell (bid) 1.10000, Buy (ask) 1.10016, Spread 1.6 pips, Cost on 1 lot: $16
XM's EUR/USD spread is 1.6 pips, so 1 lot costs about $16 the moment it opens (1 pip = $10 on 1 lot).
XM trading cost: 1 lot of EUR/USD: Standard account $16, No raw-spread account
What 1 lot of EUR/USD costs at XM: $16 on the standard account (no raw-spread account). 1 pip = $10.

Figures are from XM Global’s account types page, checked 30 October 2026. XM doesn’t print a unit beside them; for currency pairs, brokers normally quote pips. The Shares account has no spread table because it buys real shares with commission.

How to read these numbers

  • They are minimums. “As low as” is the tightest the spread gets, usually in the busiest trading hours. Expect wider spreads at the daily rollover, on Monday opens and around major data releases.
  • No averages are published. We can’t tell you a typical spread, and we haven’t measured one. To see the live figure, open a demo or real account and check the instrument in MT4/MT5.
  • No commission means spread is the cost. On Ultra Low you pay a narrower spread and still no commission (per XM’s card), but you lose bonus eligibility. On a commission account at other brokers (for example raw-spread ECN accounts), add the commission to the spread before comparing. See spread basics.

Standard or Ultra Low?

On published minimums, Ultra Low is about half the cost of Standard on EUR/USD and less than half on USD/JPY. If you trade often, that adds up quickly. If you rely on the deposit bonus for extra margin, only Standard qualifies. Full comparison: XM account types.
