Exness's offshore business runs through several licensed companies, including Exness (VG) Ltd (BVI FSC, SIBA/L/20/1133), Forexite Ltd (FSC Belize, 9110312) and Exness (MU) Ltd (FSC Mauritius, GB20025294); which one you deal with depends on your region. Exness says client funds are segregated in tier-1 banks, it applies negative balance protection, and as a Financial Commission member its clients can claim up to €20,000 from a compensation fund for unpaid dispute judgments.
Who you’re dealing with
From the footer of Exness’s global site:
| Company | Regulator | Licence |
|---|---|---|
| Exness (VG) Ltd | BVI Financial Services Commission | SIBA/L/20/1133 |
| Forexite Ltd | FSC Belize | 9110312 |
| Exness (MU) Ltd | FSC Mauritius | GB20025294 |
Our database also lists a Curaçao (CBCS) licence for Exness B.V. Exness’s help centre mentions other entities (for example in Kenya and the UAE) that serve their own markets with different leverage limits. Your registered region decides which company you contract with; check the name in your client agreement.
What Exness says it does
- Segregated accounts in multiple tier-1 banks (not named), with Exness saying its own funds are always larger so it can meet withdrawals.
- Negative balance protection: losses can’t exceed your balance.
- Stop Out Protection: a proprietary feature that Exness says helps delay or avoid stop-outs in volatile markets. It may not be available on accounts set to unlimited leverage.
- Security: PCI DSS, 3D Secure on cards, one-time passwords on withdrawals.
The compensation fund, precisely
Exness is a member of The Financial Commission, an independent dispute-resolution body. From Exness’s compensation fund page:
- The fund pays only if a member refuses to follow a Financial Commission judgment.
- Maximum €20,000 per client.
- It doesn’t cover trading losses, and doesn’t cover the whole client base if the broker becomes insolvent.
That is useful for disputes, but it’s not a statutory scheme like the UK’s FSCS or the EU’s investor compensation funds.
What an offshore licence does and doesn’t protect
It does put licensed, supervised companies behind the brand.
It doesn’t give EU/UK leverage limits or statutory compensation. Exness’s unlimited leverage exists because these companies are offshore. See offshore vs regulated brokers and FSC Mauritius.
What to check yourself
- The register entry for the company named in your Personal Area footer, on its regulator’s site.
- Which company holds your account: Exness says your registered region decides it, and the Personal Area shows it after sign-up.
- The banks that hold client money, which Exness doesn’t publish.
Practical steps
- Verify early and use payment accounts in your exact legal name.
- Make a small withdrawal after some trading to test your method: Exness withdrawals.
- Ignore anyone offering an “Exness bonus”; Exness doesn’t offer bonuses.
