Axi offers leverage up to 1,000:1 on its Standard, Premium and USD Cent accounts, but the maximum depends on your country of residence and Axi doesn't publish a country table. It doesn't cut leverage for news, but it can apply a Higher Margin Requirement to new positions around the weekend close, the daily session change and data such as NFP and CPI. Margin call notices start at 100%; stop-out is 20% on MT4/MT5.
Maximum leverage
| Account | Maximum leverage |
|---|---|
| Standard | Up to 1000:1 |
| Premium | Up to 1000:1 |
| USD Cent (MT5) | Up to 1000:1, chosen at opening and adjustable within the permitted range |
Axi’s leverage article adds that the maximum differs by country of residence, and asks clients to contact their account manager or client services to find their limit. We didn’t find a published country list, so treat 1,000:1 as a ceiling, not a promise.
Rules that can raise your margin
News. Axi says it does “not offer leverage limitations during news trading”: your account leverage isn’t cut automatically.
Higher Margin Requirement (HMR). Axi may temporarily require more margin to open new positions during periods it sees as high risk:
- around the weekend market close;
- around the daily session open and close;
- around scheduled data such as NFP, CPI and interest-rate decisions.
It covers FX, metals (gold, silver, platinum), cash indices and oil. Positions already open keep their margin. Exact rates are in Axi’s MT4/MT5 product schedule.
Margin examples
Margin = position value ÷ leverage. For 1 lot of EUR/USD at 1.15 (position value $115,000):
| Leverage | Margin needed |
|---|---|
| 1000:1 | $115 |
| 500:1 | $230 |
| 100:1 | $1,150 |
Higher leverage needs less margin, but it doesn’t change your profit or loss per pip; it lets you open a bigger position for the same deposit. Try the numbers in the margin level guide.
Margin call and stop-out
- Margin call: Axi sends a notice once your margin level falls below 100%, but says you mustn’t rely on it.
- Stop-out on MT4/MT5: below 20%, Axi closes the largest losing position first until you’re back above 20%.
- Stop-out on the Axi trading app: below 50%, it closes 20% of the affected position at a time.
Important for international clients: Axi says SVG clients have no negative balance protection. If prices gap through your stop-out, you can owe money. See is Axi safe?
Changing your leverage
Axi says USD Cent leverage can be adjusted later within the permitted range. For Standard and Premium accounts, Axi’s help centre directs leverage changes to client services. Lowering leverage is a simple way to reduce the chance of a negative balance.
