AMarkets Leverage: Maximum Ratio and the Rules That Limit It

Updated 2 November 2026 · Written by Broker Atlas Broker Reviews Desk · Data checked by Broker Atlas Data Desk

Short answer

AMarkets' maximum is 3,000:1 on FX and metals while equity is under $1,000, on every account. It falls to 2000:1 up to $5,000, 1000:1 up to $10,000, 500:1 up to $50,000 and 200:1 above. Indices and commodities go to 100:1, BTC 100:1, other crypto 10:1. Two caps apply on top: 200:1 for positions opened from 15 minutes before to 10 minutes after major news, and 1000:1 from 22:00 Friday to 01:00 Monday (server time). Stop-out is 20% on Standard, 40% on ECN and Zero.

Margin needed to open 1 lot: 1:25 $4,400, 1:100 $1,100, 1:500 $220, 1:1,000 $110, 1:3,000 $37
At AMarkets's maximum leverage of 1:3,000, 1 lot of EUR/USD needs about $37 of margin (at 1.10). Leverage changes the margin you need, not the profit or loss per pip.

Leverage by equity: FX and metals

From AMarkets’ leverage page, read on 2 November 2026:

Account equity Max leverage
Under $1,000 3000:1
$1,000 – $5,000 2000:1
$5,000 – $10,000 1000:1
$10,000 – $50,000 500:1
Over $50,000 200:1

The tiers apply to all three accounts (Standard, ECN and Zero); the account types page gives “up to 3,000:1” for each. Leverage is tied to equity, so a winning run that lifts you over $1,000 halves your maximum leverage, and a loss can raise it again.

Example. With $800 of equity, 1 lot of EUR/USD at 1.10 ($110,000) needs about $37 of margin at 3,000:1. With $6,000 of equity the same lot needs $110 (1000:1); above $50,000 it needs $550 (200:1). Check your own numbers with the margin calculator.

Other instruments

Instrument Max leverage
Indices and commodities 100:1, falling to 50:1 ($250,000–$500,000 equity) and 20:1 above $500,000
BTC/USD, BTC/EUR 100:1
Other cryptocurrencies 10:1
Stocks 10:1

Two time-based caps

AMarkets adds two limits on top of the equity tiers:

  1. News. For FX and metals positions opened within 15 minutes before and 10 minutes after major macroeconomic releases, maximum leverage may be limited to 200:1.
  2. Weekend. Between 22:00 on Friday and 01:00 on Monday, trading-server time, account leverage can’t exceed 1000:1.

Both matter if you hold large positions over a news release or into the weekend: margin requirements can jump, lowering your margin level without any price move. See news trading and economic calendar.

Margin, stop-out and protection

  • Stop-out: 20% margin level on Standard, 40% on ECN and Zero. The higher level on raw accounts closes positions earlier.
  • Hedged positions: margin for hedged positions is 50% on all accounts.
  • Negative balance protection: listed for all three accounts, so losses beyond your balance are reset.

Work out where you’d be stopped out with the stop-out calculator, and read margin level explained.

In context

3,000:1 is among the highest leverage offered by brokers we cover, but it only applies under $1,000 of equity, and it can be cut to 200:1 around news. Compare with other brokers on high-leverage brokers, and read leverage explained before using it. Account details: AMarkets account types. Back to the AMarkets review.
