M4Markets Leverage: Maximum Ratio and the Rules That Limit It

Updated 31 October 2026 · Written by Broker Atlas Broker Reviews Desk · Data checked by Broker Atlas Data Desk

Short answer

M4Markets' maximum is 5,000:1 on the Dynamic Leverage account, for FX majors on positions up to 1 lot; it drops to 2000:1 above 1 lot, 1000:1 above 2 lots and down to 10:1 above 500 lots. The Standard and Cent accounts go up to 1000:1 on major FX, and Raw Spread and Premium up to 500:1. Gold is 500:1 on the fixed-leverage accounts. You change leverage by request in the Client Portal.

Margin needed to open 1 lot: 1:25 $4,400, 1:100 $1,100, 1:500 $220, 1:1,000 $110, 1:5,000 $22
At M4Markets's maximum leverage of 1:5,000, 1 lot of EUR/USD needs about $22 of margin (at 1.10). Leverage changes the margin you need, not the profit or loss per pip.

Dynamic Leverage tiers

On the Dynamic Leverage account, leverage falls as your position grows:

Lots FX majors FX minors Gold (XAU/USD)
up to 0.5 5000:1 2500:1 3000:1
over 0.5 to 1 5000:1 2500:1 2000:1
over 1 to 2 2000:1 1000:1 1000:1
over 2 to 10 1000:1 500:1 500:1 (to 5 lots), 400:1 (to 20)
over 10 to 50 500:1 250:1 400:1 (to 20), 300:1 (to 50)
over 50 to 100 300:1 150:1 200:1
over 100 to 200 200:1 100:1 100:1 (to 150), 50:1 above
over 200 to 300 100:1 50:1 50:1
over 300 to 500 50:1 25:1 50:1
over 500 10:1 5:1 50:1

FX exotics start at 1000:1 up to 1 lot and fall to 2:1 above 500 lots. Indices, energies and crypto have their own, lower tables. The page doesn’t say whether the tiers apply to each position, each symbol or the whole account; check with support before relying on 5,000:1 with several positions open.

Margin examples

M4Markets’ support centre gives the formula: lots × contract size ÷ leverage, in the instrument’s currency.

  • Standard, 1 lot EUR/USD at 1000:1: 100,000 ÷ 1,000 = €100 of margin.
  • Raw Spread, 1 lot EUR/USD at 500:1: 100,000 ÷ 500 = €200.
  • Dynamic, 1 lot EUR/USD at 5,000:1: 100,000 ÷ 5,000 = €20.
  • Standard, 1 lot gold (100 oz) at $4,000 and 500:1: 400,000 ÷ 500 = $800.

Lower margin means a smaller price move can reach the stop-out level. See leverage explained and margin level.

Changing your leverage

M4Markets’ support centre says you request a new leverage in the Client Portal (choose the account, then request the new value). The relevant department reviews the request and approves it if applicable, so it isn’t instant.
