Exness Leverage: Maximum Ratio and the Rules That Limit It

Updated 31 October 2026 · Written by Broker Atlas Broker Reviews Desk · Data checked by Broker Atlas Data Desk

Short answer

Exness offers leverage up to "unlimited", but only when your real account equity is below $5,000 and you've closed at least 10 orders totalling 5 lots, and only on eligible instruments (FX majors and minors, most commodities, BTC and ETH). Otherwise you choose a setting from 1:2 upwards and the actual leverage falls with equity, around major news and in the hours around the weekend close. Stop-out is 0%.

Margin needed to open 1 lot: 1:25 $4,400, 1:100 $1,100, 1:500 $220, 1:1,000 $110, 1:2,000 $55
At Exness's maximum leverage of 1:2,000, 1 lot of EUR/USD needs about $55 of margin (at 1.10). Leverage changes the margin you need, not the profit or loss per pip.

Unlimited leverage: the conditions

From Exness’s help centre:

Requirement Rule
Account equity (real accounts) Less than $5,000
Trading history At least 10 closed orders (not pending) with a combined 5 lots (or 500 cent lots) across your real accounts
Eligible FX All majors and minors, DXY, USDCNH, HKDJPY, USDHKD, USDTHB
Eligible commodities All except XAUUSD247
Eligible crypto BTCUSD, BTCUSDT, ETHUSD, ETHBTC
Not eligible Any instrument not listed

If you don’t meet the conditions, the option doesn’t appear. Exness’s Stop Out Protection may not be available on accounts set to unlimited. Unlimited leverage isn’t available through Exness’s UAE entity, and its Kenyan entity caps leverage at 1:400.

Setting your leverage

In the Personal Area, open the account’s menu and choose Max leverage: you can pick from 1:2 to 1:Unlimited or set a custom figure. If your setting is higher than what’s currently allowed, the actual leverage applied is lower; the Personal Area shows the actual figure.

When leverage is reduced

Exness says actual leverage can fall because of:

  • equity: higher equity means lower available leverage (Exness applies “standard equity ranges”, which we didn’t find published in full)
  • important economic news
  • the period from 3 hours before to 1 hour after weekend closes and holiday breaks
  • instruments with fixed margin, such as exotics, most crypto, stocks, indices and XAUUSD247, where leverage settings don’t change the margin

Gold (XAUUSD) has “high margin requirement” periods at 1:200 to 1:1000, per Exness’s instrument specifications.

Margin call and stop-out

Account Margin call Stop-out
Standard 60% 0%
Pro, Zero, Raw Spread 30% 0%

A 0% stop-out means positions stay open until equity is gone; negative balance protection then stops the loss at your balance. See is Exness safe?.

Example

Exness’s own formula: margin = lots × contract size ÷ leverage. Two lots of EUR/USD at 2,000:1 need 2 × 100,000 ÷ 2000 = €100. Try it in the margin calculator.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get unlimited leverage at Exness?

On a real account your equity must be under $5,000 and you must have closed at least 10 orders (not pending orders) with a combined 5 lots (or 500 cent lots) across your real accounts. Then the option appears in leverage settings.

Which instruments can use unlimited leverage?

All FX majors and minors plus DXY, USDCNH, HKDJPY, USDHKD and USDTHB; all commodities except XAUUSD247; and BTCUSD, BTCUSDT, ETHUSD and ETHBTC.

Why is my actual leverage lower than my setting?

Exness says actual leverage can fall because of account equity, the instrument and periods of high margin requirements, including important news and 3 hours before to 1 hour after the weekend close.

What are Exness's margin call and stop-out levels?

Margin call 60% on Standard and 30% on professional accounts; stop-out 0% on all of them.
