Opening an M4Markets account takes three stages: register and verify your profile (colour ID plus a proof of address issued within 3 months, and an economic profile), open a trading account and fund it (Standard, Raw Spread, Premium or Dynamic Leverage), then download MT4 or MT5. International clients sign up with Trinota Markets (Global) Ltd, regulated in Seychelles. US residents can't open an account.
Before you start
- Who you sign with: international clients contract with Trinota Markets (Global) Ltd, regulated by the Seychelles FSA (SD035). See is M4Markets safe?.
- Who can’t join: US residents. The site’s footer also excludes Cuba and North Korea.
- Pick your account first: base currency can’t be changed later; you’d have to open another account. Compare them on M4Markets account types.
Step by step
M4Markets’ support centre describes the process:
- Register. Fill in the registration form and log in to the Client Portal.
- Complete your economic profile. An overview of your finances and experience.
- Upload documents and verify your profile. See the list below.
- Open a trading account. Under Accounts, choose to open a new real-money account and pick Standard, Raw Spread, Premium or Dynamic Leverage, MT4 or MT5. To get the 50% credit bonus, choose the MT4/MT5 bonus account option.
- Fund it, then trade. Use “Deposit funds” under Funds; your first deposit needs your payment details approved. Download MT4 or MT5 from the “Downloads” tab and log in with your account details.
Documents accepted
| Document | Requirements |
|---|---|
| Proof of identity | Colour copy of a passport, national ID card, driving licence or other photo document from an independent, reliable source. Must be valid and show full name, date of birth, issue/expiry date and serial number. |
| Proof of address | Full page, issued within the last 3 months: utility bill, bank or credit card statement, etc. Must show your name, address and the issuer. No P.O. boxes. |
| Economic profile | Completed in the Client Portal. |
M4Markets says it collects these under the Seychelles FSA’s KYC rules.
Why verification gets rejected
The requirements above point to the usual reasons:
- A black-and-white copy or an expired ID
- A cropped proof of address, or one older than 3 months
- A P.O. box address
- The name or address not matching your registration
After you’re verified
- You can open two trading accounts per account type.
- New accounts with the same details are validated automatically while your documents are valid.
- Leverage can be changed by request in the Client Portal: M4Markets leverage.
- Fund with any method shown in your portal: M4Markets deposits.
