The short answer
XM and M4Markets are the two most “beginner-shaped” offshore brokers in our database: $5 minimums, deposit bonuses and negative balance protection at both. XM is the simpler, steadier option; M4Markets is the more generous and more detailed one, with a richer bonus rule and more account types.
1. Bonus
M4Markets: 50% credit on every deposit to a verified account, capped at $10,000 of bonus in total, converting to withdrawable balance as you trade ($2 per lot on Standard). XM Global: a 100% deposit bonus; the bonus itself can’t be withdrawn. Because XM’s rate depends on your country, M4Markets is the one you can evaluate before signing up. Neither publishes a no-deposit bonus. See XM bonus and M4Markets bonus.
2. Leverage: stable versus dynamic
XM Global sets leverage by equity: 1000:1 up to $40,000, 500:1 to $80,000, 200:1 to $200,000 and 100:1 above, and says it doesn’t change during news. M4Markets’ Dynamic Leverage account sets it by position size: 5000:1 on FX majors up to 1 lot, 2000:1 above, falling further with size. Its Standard and Cent accounts offer 1000:1. If you open a few small trades, M4Markets gives more; if you hold bigger positions on a modest account, XM’s flat 1000:1 is easier to plan around. XM leverage, M4Markets leverage.
3. Accounts and costs
XM Global: Standard and Ultra Low (from $5) and Shares ($10,000). M4Markets: Standard, Raw Spread ($500), Premium ($10,000), Dynamic Leverage and Cent (from $5). M4Markets publishes average spreads (EUR/USD 1.6 pips on Standard, 0.4 on Raw Spread plus commission); see XM spreads for what XM publishes. If you want a raw-spread account with commission, only M4Markets has one in this pair. Account types compared.
4. Licence and protection
XM Global Limited, licensed by FSC Belize (8557558). Trinota Markets (Global) Ltd, licensed by the Seychelles FSA (SD035). Both brokers state negative balance protection on retail accounts, and both offer swap-free options. Belize and Seychelles are both offshore regimes: your account isn’t covered by EU leverage caps or a compensation fund. Safest brokers.
5. Withdrawals and extras
XM Global says withdrawals are processed instantly or the same day, with bank wire and cards usually 2–5 business days to arrive. M4Markets says it usually processes within 24 working hours (e-wallets instant, cards and wire 1–5 business days) and charges 3% on a withdrawal made without trading. XM adds copy trading and an XM app; both run MT4 and MT5.
