XM vs BigBoss: Which Broker Is Better?

Updated 2 November 2026 · Written by Broker Atlas Comparisons Desk · Data checked by Broker Atlas Data Desk

Short answer

Pick BigBoss if you want more than 1000:1 (up to 2222:1 on major FX, falling as your balance grows) and the bigger bonus: three tiers worth up to $13,840 of credit, plus 10% on BBC deposits. Pick XM for a $5 start, lower spreads (EUR/USD around 1.6 pips against 1.9) and negative balance protection that simply resets a negative balance. Both are offshore-licensed.

The short answer

BigBoss offers more leverage and a much larger bonus. XM offers a cheaper, simpler start: a $5 minimum, slightly lower spreads and straightforward negative balance protection. For most first-time offshore traders, XM’s simplicity matters more than the extra leverage.

1. Leverage

XM Global: up to 1000:1, which it says doesn’t drop during news. BigBoss: up to 2222:1, varying with your balance, and the Standard and Pro Spread accounts are capped at 1111:1 below $20,000 of total balance. BigBoss also applies fixed lower limits to many instruments: exotic FX 100:1; energy, indices, commodities and crypto CFDs 50:1 (indices 500:1 on one account); stock CFDs 20:1.

So BigBoss’s advantage is concentrated in major FX on small balances. Compare on high-leverage brokers.

2. Bonus

Both brokers use deposit bonuses as extra margin. XM Global’s is a 100% deposit bonus, and the bonus itself can’t be withdrawn. BigBoss’s three-tier deposit bonus (120%/100% to $700, 30% to $5,700, 20% to $63,200) reaches $13,840, plus a 10% BBC deposit bonus; it’s credit only. Details: XM bonus, BigBoss bonus.

3. Accounts and costs

XM Global: Standard and Ultra Low ($5 minimum) and Shares ($10,000). BigBoss: OMEGA, Deluxe, Standard and Pro Spread, with no minimum deposit and commissions of $2.5 or $4.5 per lot, one way on some accounts. EUR/USD averages about 1.6 pips at XM and 1.9 pips at BigBoss on the standard accounts (typical review-site figures, not official averages). If you trade often, compare total cost (spread plus commission) rather than spread alone.

4. Licence and protection

XM Global Limited holds an FSC Belize licence (8557558). BigBoss is run by Big Boss Ltd. (Comoros, BFX2024045) with BigBoss Mauritius Limited (FSC Mauritius, GB20025563). All are offshore licences, giving much less protection than EU, UK or Australian regulation. XM Global states negative balance protection on all accounts; BigBoss’s zero-cut first refills a negative balance from your other BigBoss accounts. Both stop out at 20%. See safest brokers.

Verdict by trader type

Frequently asked questions

Is BigBoss's 2222:1 available on everything?

No. It applies to major FX on the Deluxe and OMEGA accounts and falls as your balance grows. BigBoss lists fixed limits such as 100:1 for exotic FX, 50:1 for energy, indices, commodities and crypto CFDs, and 20:1 for stock CFDs on at least one account.

Which has the better bonus?

BigBoss, on size: its three-tier programme reaches $13,840 of credit, plus a 10% bonus on deposits in its BBC token. XM Global offers a 100% deposit bonus. Neither bonus can be withdrawn as cash.

Is BigBoss licensed?

Yes, offshore. Big Boss Ltd. holds a Comoros (Mohéli) brokerage licence (BFX2024045), and BigBoss Mauritius Limited an FSC Mauritius licence (GB20025563). XM Global Limited holds an FSC Belize licence (8557558).

Does BigBoss have negative balance protection?

Yes, but it first refills a negative balance from your other BigBoss accounts and writes off only what remains. XM Global states negative balance protection on all accounts and simply resets the balance.
