iFOREX doesn't publish a maximum leverage for international clients: margin is set per instrument in its platform and reflects volatility and liquidity. Its worked examples use 0.25% margin on USD/JPY (400:1), 0.5% on gold (200:1) and 1% on WTI oil (100:1). Positions are closed when equity falls to the maintenance margin, 20% of used margin, starting with the deal using the most margin. Negative balance protection applies, and net exposure is capped at $15 million per client.
No published maximum
iFOREX’s international site (operated by Formula Investment House Ltd, BVI FSC) doesn’t publish a leverage table. Its trading conditions page says margin requirements “reflect the potential risk in positions, based on volatility, liquidity and pricing availability”, and that the platform calculates them before executing any order. The actual margin for each instrument is shown in the platform.
What iFOREX does publish are worked examples, read on 2 November 2026:
| Instrument (example) | Margin | Equivalent leverage |
|---|---|---|
| USD/JPY | 0.25% | 400:1 |
| Gold | 0.5% | 200:1 |
| WTI oil | 1% | 100:1 |
These are examples from its close-out explanation, not a promised maximum, and may differ by instrument and over time. Residents of iFOREX’s restricted countries (including the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand) can’t open accounts, and EU visitors are sent to iFOREX Europe, where EU leverage caps apply.
How margin close-out works
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Used Margin | Equity tied up as margin for open deals |
| Available Margin | Total Equity − Used Margin |
| Margin Utilization | Used Margin ÷ Total Equity × 100 |
| Maintenance Margin | 20% of Used Margin |
If total equity reaches or falls below the maintenance margin, iFOREX’s “Margin Close-out Protection” closes the deal that uses the most margin first, then re-checks. Its example: USD/JPY ($500 margin), gold ($1,150) and WTI ($350) make $2,000 of used margin, so the maintenance margin is $400. At $400 equity, gold closes first (used margin falls to $850, maintenance to $170); at $170, USD/JPY closes; at $70, the oil deal closes.
With a bonus. A $1,000 deposit with a 100% trading bonus gives $2,000 of equity. A $800,000 USD/JPY position at 0.25% uses $2,000 of margin, so the maintenance margin is $400, reached after a loss of $1,600. The bonus extends the room before close-out, but iFOREX may remove it when you withdraw: iFOREX bonus.
Other limits
- Net exposure cap: up to $15 million per client, plus per-instrument limits, which iFOREX can change without notice.
- Hedging: opposite positions on the same instrument are margined on a cumulative or net basis.
- Withdrawals with open positions: you can only withdraw funds not used as margin; the platform checks available funds before any withdrawal.
- Overnight financing: leveraged positions pay or earn financing nightly, with a mark-up starting at 0.75% a year on currency pairs: swap explained.
Negative balance protection
iFOREX says losses are limited to the funds in your account, including after slippage, so you shouldn’t owe money after a gap: negative balance protection explained.
Using it sensibly
Without a published ceiling, check the margin rate in the deal ticket before each trade, and work out your close-out level with the margin calculator and margin level explained. For brokers that publish leverage tables, see high-leverage brokers and leverage explained. Back to the iFOREX review.

Frequently asked questions
What is iFOREX's maximum leverage?
It isn't published as one number. iFOREX's trading-conditions examples use 0.25% margin on USD/JPY (equivalent to 400:1), 0.5% on gold (200:1) and 1% on WTI oil (100:1). Check each instrument's margin in the platform.
When does iFOREX close my positions?
When total equity falls to or below the maintenance margin, which is 20% of used margin. iFOREX closes the deal using the most margin first, then the next, until the requirement is met.
Can I lose more than I deposit at iFOREX?
No. iFOREX says its negative balance protection limits losses to the funds in your account, even if slippage occurs.
Does the bonus count towards margin?
Yes. Total equity includes any trading bonus, so it adds margin. But it can be removed on withdrawal, which lowers your equity at once.
