Best Forex Brokers in Taiwan: Compared

Updated 31 October 2026 · Written by Broker Atlas Guides Desk · Data checked by Broker Atlas Data Desk

Short answer

In Taiwan, the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) says anyone conducting securities or futures business in Taiwan without its licence breaches the Securities Trading Act, the Futures Trading Act or the Securities Investment Trust and Consulting Act and is subject to criminal charges, and that there is no regulatory safeguard for investors on unregulated online platforms. None of the offshore brokers we cover is, as far as we found, FSC-licensed, and none names Taiwan as excluded.

Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC), through its Securities and Futures Bureau, supervises securities and futures business in Taiwan. In its press release “FSC warns investors about trading on unregulated online platforms” (July 2020), the FSC says:

  • unlicensed firms may not run securities or futures businesses in Taiwan, and anyone doing so without an FSC licence contravenes the Securities Trading Act, the Futures Trading Act and the Securities Investment Trust and Consulting Act, and is subject to criminal charges;
  • offshore, unlicensed platforms increasingly reach Taiwanese investors through social media and online marketing;
  • “there is no regulatory safeguard for investors who choose to transact on unregulated online trading platforms”, and claims against overseas operators can be hard to pursue.

The same release recalls the FSC’s alert of 29 November 2019 naming eToro as an unlicensed firm marketing to Taiwanese investors. This page describes the regulator’s position in general; it isn’t legal advice.

How to check a broker

  1. Search the FSC’s list of regulated firms.
  2. Check the IOSCO International Investor Alerts portal, which the FSC also recommends, for warnings by other regulators.
  3. If a platform claims a Taiwanese licence, match the company name and licence on the FSC’s list exactly.

Which brokers we cover accept Taiwan

From each broker’s own site, checked 31 October 2026:

Broker What its own site says about Taiwan
XM (XM Global) Not stated; its restricted list names the US, Canada, Israel and Iran
Exness Not stated; its list names the USA, Canada, Iran, North Korea, Europe, the UK, Russia, Belarus “and others”
Vantage Not stated; it excludes India, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, the US and FATF-listed jurisdictions
Titan FX Not on its unsupported-countries list
FXGT Not stated (it excludes only EU and UK residents)
XS.com Not stated (it names the USA, Iran and North Korea)
BigBoss Not stated (it names the USA, Iran and Macau, and in principle Malaysia and Japan)
HFM Not stated on its public pages; HFM’s registration form shows whether your country is accepted

“Not stated” means the site neither accepts nor excludes Taiwan by name. Given the FSC’s warning, a broker accepting your registration doesn’t make it a licensed provider in Taiwan.

Funding in New Taiwan dollars

None of the brokers we cover lists a Taiwan-specific payment method on the public pages we read. Exness and Vantage show methods by region after registration. Money sent to an unlicensed offshore platform is outside Taiwanese regulatory protection, as the FSC points out.

Offshore vs FSC-regulated

Offshore brokers usually offer higher leverage and bonuses. The trade-off is that you rely entirely on the offshore company and its home regulator. Before choosing, read regulated vs offshore brokers, how client funds are protected and, if leverage is the draw, our leverage guide.

Tax

Check the Ministry of Finance, the National Taxation Bureau or a tax adviser. Our forex tax guide explains the general principle that your residence decides.

Bottom line

The FSC’s position is clear: unlicensed securities and futures business in Taiwan is a criminal matter for the operator, and investors on those platforms have no regulatory safeguard. Use the FSC’s list of regulated firms before opening any account, and treat social-media offers with extra care. Before you fund an account, ask your bank how it handles transfers to overseas brokers and what it charges.
